CNN —Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. will appear on Hawaii’s presidential ballot following a Friday ruling that blocked an effort by Hawaii Democrats to disqualify his campaign’s ballot access petition. Hawaii marks the third state where Kennedy has officially qualified for ballot access. He gained ballot access in Michigan, a key battleground state, earlier this week after qualifying for Utah’s ballot earlier this year. A spokesperson for the Hawaii Office of Elections confirmed to CNN that Friday’s ruling means Kennedy will appear on the state’s ballot. The Kennedy campaign and the Democratic Party of Hawaii did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House Ethics committee in a scathing report Thursday said it has amassed “overwhelming evidence” of lawbreaking by Rep. George Santos of New York that has been sent to the Justice Department, concluding flatly that the Republican “cannot be trusted” after a monthslong investigation into his conduct. Shortly after the panel's report was released, Santos blasted it as a “politicized smear” in a tweet on X but said that he would not be seeking reelection to a second term. Santos has maintained his innocence and had long refused to resign despite calls from many of his colleagues to do so. The ethics panel's report also detailed Santos’ lack of cooperation with its investigation and how he “evaded” straightforward requests for information. A former fundraiser for U.S. Rep. George Santos pleaded guilty Tuesday to a federal wire fraud charge, admitting he impersonated a high-ranking congressional aide while raising campaign cash for the embattled New York Republican. George Santos stole the identities of donors to his campaign and then used their credit cards to ring up tens of thousands of dollars in unauthorized charges, according to a new indictment filed Tuesday. In the updated indictment, prosecutors accuse Santos of charging more than $44,000 to his campaign over a period of months using cards belonging to contributors without their knowledge. Melania Trump's stylist received $132,000 for "strategy consulting" in 2022, FEC filings show. Herve Pierre Braillard designed Melania Trump's dress for her husband's inaugural ball. Reports of Save America PAC paying Braillard first emerged in August 2022, showing at that time that the fund had paid the stylist $60,000 for "strategy consulting." The Federal Elections Commission does not allow PACs to spend money on personal items, but leadership PACs such as Save America PAC have fewer spending restrictions. Trump's Save America PAC was established in November 2020, just days after President Joe Biden's election victory, and has fundraised on the back of promoting voter fraud claims and supporting Trump's chosen candidates.

The campaign of embattled Republican Rep. George Santos is facing new scrutiny from the Federal Elections Commission after a person listed as Santos' campaign treasurer denied that he had taken the job. It was addressed to Santos' campaign and Thomas Datwyler, the person listed as its treasurer in an amended form filed Wednesday that appeared to replace Santos' longtime treasurer, Nancy Marks. "On Monday, we informed the Santos campaign that Mr. Datwyler would not be taking over as treasurer," Ross said in a statement at the time. The lawyer added that he has not tried to contact the Santos campaign because it "seems like a waste of time." The letter gave the Santos campaign a March 2 deadline to respond.
